Budget 2013: do your employees know the full story?

If you’re on the leadership team in any business or community organisation in Australia, you probably spent last night and early this morning poring over the Budget reports as you assessed its impact on yourself and your business.

For some the news will be better than for others.  Either way you’re likely to make business decisions based on this budget.

Meanwhile, everyone else in your organisation will likely consider the budget in terms of their personal circumstances – do spending cuts or tax changes  affect them personally.  More often than not, they are going to be having conversations with your customers, your suppliers and your business partners.

So  are you missing an opportunity? Your employees are your brand: how they feel and how they interact with each other and with your customers can be a massive point of difference between you and your competitors.

At Ogilvy Public Relations, we believe in the power of storytelling. We believe even serious and complicated news can be shared via a compelling narrative. We believe that when employees communicate with one voice on behalf of a brand, people start to pay attention. And customers become loyal customers. Dealers become business partners. Sales teams become successful lead generators. In short, your business is propelled forward by the power of people sharing simple stories, elegantly and quickly.
