Our Social & Environmental Commitment
In addition to our work through the Ogilvy PR So Inspired initiative, Impact is proud to have supported a number of charitable organisations over the years.
We currently provide pro bono support to Surf Life Saving Australia, one of Australia’s more critically needed organisations.
It also provides ongoing support to FebFast a national health and charity initiative which aims to reduce the impact of alcohol and other drugs on young Australians by raising funds to support organisations working in research, prevention and service delivery concerning alcohol and other drugs use by young people.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
It’s about walking the walk!
Ogilvy Earth is our sustainability communications practice and encompasses our internal practices as well as how we can better support our clients through empowering employees to act for the environment, to promoting green products, to advising on environmental public policy.
We aim to shrink business’ footprint on the planet whilst growing its profitability. In conjunction with launching our external Ogilvy Earth practice, we have made a commitment to ensure we “walk the walk” ourselves if we are going to “talk the talk” with our clients.
To be successful in this commitment we need to ensure we provide all employees with the knowledge, tools and support to think, talk, listen and act for a better balance of environmental, community and business outcomes.
Our sustainability targets are tied into the STW Group and WPP targets. Although WPP have offset our carbon footprint as a group, it is imperative that we actually reduce our footprint as well. We can only do this if each and every one of our employees exercises reducing, reusing and recycling wherever possible. Without your support we will not succeed in meeting our targets.
The intention of offsets is really to negate unavoidable emissions in the course of doing business. It is a proven fact that offsets alone will not reduce our impact on the environment in a timely enough manner to have a positive effect on climate change.
Ogilvy PR, of which Impact is a part, is committed to making tangible positive differences within Australia’s communities. Our involvement is underpinned by our intent to inspire people to be their best and to live Ogilvy PR’s values of Partnership, Learn & Grow and One Step Ahead.
Spearheaded by one of Impact’s own MDs, Tam Sandeman, So Inspired is the program by which the Ogilvy PR community commitment is brought to life.
Our projects encapsulate Ogilvy PR’s values and have a people focus. Our aim is to be sustainable and create engagement within our local communities. By doing this we provide an opportunity for our employees to engage in interactive projects.
Some examples of our work and support include motivational workshops and hamper drives for Youth Off The Streets, a backyard blitz for Claffy House – a domestic violence refuge for women, a cleaning bee for a displaced shelter for men in Canberra, and day visits to Georgian House a facility for the elderly in North Sydney.
